Jury declaration:
During an hypnotic flight over solid waters we are reminded of an immersed world by subtle calls from underneath, a marine mammal choir. A breakthrough reveals a shadow erupting from the depths, as the rhythmic dialogue continues. Through a creative use of scientistic footage and associative, semi-unconscious immagery, one is led to recognise the importance of the voice in the awareness of the existence of the other.

in Kollaboration mit dem Alfred-Wegener-Institut in Bremerhaven
Audio-Komposition aus unterschiedlichen marinen Tierstimmen und Unterwassergeräuschen, unter ausschließlicher Verwendung von natürlichen Sounds aus der Arktis und Antarktis. Das Rohmaterial, Audiodateien aus dem passive acoustic monitoring in der Arktis und Antarktis, wurde mir freundlicherweise vom Alfred-Wegener-Institut in Bremerhaven zur Verfügung gestellt. Mein besonderer Dank gilt Ilse van Opzeeland, Meeresbiologin und Bioakustikerin der Ocean Acoustic Group am Alfred-Wegener-Institut (AWI) in Bremerhaven und am Helmholtz-Institut für funktionale marine Biodiversität (HIFMB) in Oldenburg.

A free composition of calls and songs of marine mammals from the Arctic and Antarctic, forming an underwater orchestra of extraordinary beauty and alien sounds, coming together in rhythm and melody, playfully chatting and conversing. Exclusively using animal voices from original scientific recordings of the Arctic and Antarctic waters, in collaboration with the Alfred-Wegener-Institute in Bremerhaven. My special thanks to Ilse van Opzeeland, marine biologist and bioacoustician of the Ocean Acoustic Group at the Alfred-Wegener-Institut (AWI) in Bremerhaven and at the Helmholtz-Institut for functional marine biodiversity (HIFMB) in Oldenburg.
